River Rafting - North GA

The best river rafting in the eastern half of the US is just north of my home in Atlanta. The Oconee and Ocoee rivers are legendary and have been the backdrop for truly legendary films like "Deliverance" and most recently several 1996 Summer Olympics competitions such as kayaking. This is an excellent example of a small raft. On this part of the river it's shallow and relatively calm so the the "oarsman" stands. This is a level 1 and 2 trip. We're taking a six foot drop - yep that's me (Carla up front on the left).

This trip included a little hike to a waterfall, swimming through a wormhole and lunch on a big rock overhanging the river!

A larger raft and larger waves. THIS is whitewater - a level 3 trip. Notice I'm in the BACK left this time!

That kayaker top left doesn't think we're crazy or dangerous... river etiquette and safety dictates that others stay clear - so they are not a hazard or a distraction, until the first craft is clear of the rapids.

This is rafting VEGAS STYLE!
Our group of large and small motored rafts head out for a day trip on the Colorado.

The pictures can't convey how beautiful it was and really surprising how much wild life we saw. They call this landmark Oger Rock.
