Offshore Waters - Among the Oil Rigs
|
|
Few areas can compare to the Green and Blue Water fishing in Louisiana! We catch Marlin, Crevalle Jack, Dolphin (fish not Flipper!), aka Mahi Mahi, Grouper, Tarpon, Cobia, and about 23 species of sharks; The most dangerous is the Black Tip Bull. There's also about 10 species of Grouper, including the biggest of them all, the Jewfish. Almost regardless of where you launch, an offshore trip starts with magnificent scenery of bayous, bays, jetties, sea birds and other wildlife; Sportsman's Paradise is truly accurate. Louisiana's oil rigs and Mississippi River combine to create an unmatched habitat for both resident and migratory sea life and are major contributors to the unique abundance of the Gulf Coast. The man-made reefs (oil rigs) attract tasty reef dwellers including several species of Snapper. If you fish in coastal LA, whether you are in Blue or Green water, shallows or deep, or even the Mississippi River when it comes to Black Tip Bull sharks, they are everywhere. These sharks are so aggressive, they often make striking at anything moving on shore or in the boat a priority over getting back in the water! So keep your hands clear and getting out of the boat to enjoy the pretty water; NOT a good idea. ----------------- ^^ -------------- |
