Grand Bayou - Port Sulfur, LA

This is excellent early spring fishing. This area is a giant fish hatchery, many different species come here to spawn and lay their eggs in these shallow waters. They are loaded with many different aquatic grasses that are both food and habitat for crabs and fish.

This is a true Brackish marsh. The Mississippi River is only about 6 blocks away and the Gulf of Mexico is about 40 miles downstream so you get lots of BACKWASH in this area.

This is reasonably accessible spot of the ones we fish and one of the easiest to navigate.  It's a great spot for those not fishing to relax on a blanket or in a chair and enjoy the scenery or take a walk and explore. In the fall there are ducks and many other water foul around.

You can catch almost anything here. You can sit in one spot and catch fresh water catfish, striped hybrid bass, regular stripped bass, large mouth bass, Redfish, Black Drum, Sheephead, Speckled Trout, White Trout, Croakers, and the ultimate marsh predator the Alligator Gars, some up to 5 feet and larger.
